Home Truths Research

I love this combination of a textiles approach working with the ceramic plate that artist Diem Chau uses within his peculiar work:

Diam Chau is a Vietnamese artist who combines silk organza thread with porcelain to create these haunting works that are generous, nurturing and loving in their meaning, quite magical.

I love how Diam Chau has brought the illustration from a frozen depiction to the flexible capabilities of the hair coming up and out from the work for us to feel the character depicted. I have never seen plates utilising these two materials in a collaboration ever before. I sense from these works when I gaze at them that they have quite a motherly loving vibe about them suggested from the sophistication of the clean and tidy pose ultimately enhancing the homage that the plate refers too when symbolizing the sanctuary and tender loving nature of home within its rounded shape and pure white mind clearing colour radiating good health and happiness.
